As the City prepares to install its first pedestrian crossover on Algoma Street this fall, it's looking at how to pay for one on Simpson Street.
Council voted last night to put a crossing near Norwest Community Health Centre in next year's budget for consideration. However, prior to last night's meeting, the provincially-funded clinic notified the City that it won't cover any of the costs.
Mayor Keith Hobbs says the City should look to how cost-sharing for pedestrian crossings is handled by other municipalities. That amendment was successful.
Options for the crossing include a pedestrian-activated signal which would cost $125,000, or a crossover at $88,000.
