THE CAUSE – WHY THIS IS SO IMPORTANT
Frontier College is Canada’s original literacy organization and has been working on the front lines to improve Canada’s literacy rates since 1899.
We know that people with low literacy are more likely to be unemployed, have poor health and live in poverty. Locally, we reach over 1,730 children & youth each year, through our programs offered in schools, libraries, and community locations in Thunder Bay. Regionally, we serve over 3200 children and youth in remote communities through our Lieutenant Governor’s Indigenous Summer Reading Camps. Over the past year we have gifted over 5690 books to children and their families in our community & region.
